Welcome to Platte Purchase Middle School!
We are a sixth through eighth grade building in the Platte County R-3 School District. Our staff takes great pride in creating lasting relationships with our students and parents. We want all members of the community to feel welcomed and valued when they enter our building. As the principal, I encourage all parents to be involved in their child's education. We offer many opportunities for involvement through PTSA and Pirate Pals.
I bring 16 years in education as an English teacher, instructional coach, and most recently as an assistant principal at Staley High School in the North Kansas City School District. After receiving a Bachelors of Secondary Education from the University of Missouri, I went on to achieve a master's degree in education leadership from Northwest Missouri State University, and an education specialist degree from William Woods University. I'm currently a doctoral candidate at William Woods.
I am an enthusiastic learner and love working with students, teachers, parents, and district leaders to build powerful, positive relationships that in turn create positive educational experiences for students. My mission as an educator is to build and maintain a strong school culture where student success is celebrated, and the impact of a strong school is valued by the community. My husband, Jeff, and I have been married for 15 years and have three children, two who are middle schoolers and our oldest recently graduated from high school. We enjoy spending time at the lake, going to the many youth sporting events for our children, and traveling.

Working with kids has always been a passion for me. Making a difference in a student's life is my main purpose, and assisting students in having great educational experiences is my main goal.
I started my career as an administrator in California, Missouri. I was an Assistant Principal at the elementary as well as the middle school there for two years. Before starting my career as an administrator, I taught art for seven years (one year in elementary and six years in a middle school) and coached various sports at all levels.
I am originally from Independence, Missouri, and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Central Missouri in 1999 and a Masters of Science in Educational Administration from Park University in 2003. I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Saint Louis University. I am married to Tamara, a dietician, and I have a daughter named Elise. I am very excited to be a part of Platte Purchase Middle School. Go Pirates!!!.....Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh!
